1902-1903 - Iceland - TJ21a - Stamp - mint NH, Mint Hinged

Rarely seen Í Gildi overprint on a stamp FROM THE FIRST PRINTING of the 3 aur Official stamp in perf 13. Its color referred to as brownish orange-yellow instead of olivish yellow-orange but the biggest difference between the two prints can be seen if they are viewed under UV-light. The stamp is only lightly hinged but the gum has turned brownish, two rust spots are visible on the front. Facit catalogue value is approx. 6.000, which must be regarded as modest considering how rarely such examples come onto the market.
