Stationery - 1902 - CHINA - VERY RARE DESTINATION - FLATEYRI C2 on an amazing 5 aur double stationery card uprated with 5 aur stamp, sent via England with HULL SHIP LETTER transit and HANGCHOW arrival cancels on front. The inquiry card with full text on back, the reply card still attached (unused) with a Shanghai transit cancel on back. ONLY A COUPLE OF POSTAL ITEMS SENT TO CHINA IN THIS PERIOD ARE KNOWN TO EXIST. on 5 aur stationery card upfranked with 3 aur (small 3) in perf 13, the card sent via Hull to Copenhagen in 1901. HULL SHIP LETTER transit cancel as well as a Copenhagen arrival cancel on front. Certificate by Carl Aage Møller.

Cover - 1925 - Extremely clean registered commercial banking cover sent from AKUREYRI to Copenhagen in 1925, franked with a brown 20 aur as well as 30 aur Christian X stamps of the first issue.

Misc - 1937 - Pre-printed cheque from Landsbanki Íslands, Reykjavík. The check is issued by Fiskveiðihlutafélagið Hængur in 1937. A 10 aur postage stamp has been affixed to the check, as was allowed instead of using a specially printed Greidslumerki fee stamp. The stamp then cancelled with the office hand stamp of the entity issuing the cheque. Cheques or invoices/receipts with such usages of stamps instead of Greidslumerki are scarcely seen. For reasons probably not easily proven, the former applies especially to those where the postage stamp has actually been cancelled (either by manuscript or hand stamp). My suspicions lean towards it being so that used postage stamps were often removed from such documents due to their (even if only miniscule) value, while unused stamps without gum were closer to being worthless. This stamp duty was charged on checks and invoices/receipts over 20 Icelandic krónur in value during the years 1935-1941. Stationery - 1960 - Scarcely seen unused 175 aura light blue aerogramme which has been sold by the Post after having had a franking of 230 aurar added, in the form of a machine meter postmark in red ink. The meter mark dated 10.1.62.

Cover - 1936 - Special commemorative card honoring Charles Lindbergh and his wife during their visit to Iceland in 1933. The card franked with Icelandic stamps and cancelled in Reykjavik on August 17th, while they were still staying there. The card addressed to the United States.
